Hong Kong Heat Risk IndexWhich areas should be prioritized for heat-risk mitigation?
Based on high HRI, population exposure, and lack of nearby green space.

Methodology & Data Sources
Analysis Workflow
CSDI GeoJSON layers were imported into PostgreSQL/PostGIS, transformed to EPSG:2326, analysed as 100m grids, and published through GeoServer WMS/WFS. PHP REST APIs provide district statistics and nearest cooling-facility queries.
HRI Components
Db: building density from building footprint area within each grid.
Lu: land-use risk weight from classified land-use polygons.
Gp: normalised distance from grid centre to nearest green/open space.
Data Sources
Building footprints, land use, open space, TPU population, district boundary and temperature stations: Hong Kong CSDI GeoJSON datasets.
TPU population uses the t_pop attribute for area-weighted population exposure estimation.
Temperature stations are used as a CSDI reference layer for comparison with HRI patterns.
Basemaps: OpenStreetMap, CARTO and ESRI map services.
Limitations
Population is area-weighted from TPU polygons to 100m grids.
Green accessibility uses Euclidean buffer distance, not walking-network distance.
HRI is a relative risk index, not a directly measured temperature surface.
